City of Chattanooga Bike Patrol
Reinstated just a few years ago as a result of community support from city bicycle planning efforts, the Bike Patrol secures downtown streets, portions of the riverwalk, and provides convenient protection for large pedestrian events such as Chattanooga's famous Riverbend Festival.

Partnering with local law enforcement to ensure traffic laws are obeyed in the vicinity of schools (this includes enforcement of speeds, yielding to pedestrians in crossings , and proper walking and bicycling behaviors), and initiating community enforcement such as crossing guard programs.
Although the Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department are busy securing our communities, they also take time to assist in programs that promote safety.  The Chattanooga- Hamilton County Safe Routes to School effort is lucky to have designated liaisons assisting with the enforcement component of the program.  Included are the bike patrol, civil enforcement, and safety patrol.  These individuals help provide additional safety when schools have designated "safe routes", assist in assessing traffic safety, and when possible, aid in pedestrian and bicycle safety education.
Let's Thank Our Law Enforcement Officers!
