Teaching children about the broad range of transportation choices, instructing them in important lifelong bicycling and walking safety skills, and launching driver safety campaigns in the vicinity of schools are all efforts we expect to undertake in Chattanooga using great educators like those shown above.
Pilot Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Classes
The education component of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Safe Routes to School program is in its early stages and we are piloting pedestrian and bicycle safety classes this spring for the 2006-2007 participating schools.  The classes will be instructed by the Health Department's Injury Prevention and Traffic Safety divisions along with some of the certified cycling instructors pictured above.
