Bike to Riverbend 2006
graphicChattanooga, TN -- To encourage activity among Hamilton County residents, Step ONE and the Chattanooga Bicycle Task Force will provide a free bike valet service for Riverbend Festival patrons this year.
The bike parking area will be situated at the downtown end of the Walnut Street Bridge each night of Riverbend (except Monday) from 5-11 pm.   Festival goers will be encouraged to park at the Amnicola Marsh and ride the Riverwalk to the Walnut Street Bridge – providing the most convenient and fun way to get to Riverbend!
The ride is approximately 4 miles and should take between 20 and 30 minutes to travel.  The Riverwalk is fully lighted and extra security staff will be on patrol.  This is an excellent way to justify those Riverbend treats!
“I commend County Mayor Claude Ramsey’s Step ONE initiative.  Getting our community active and eating healthy will pay off with lower obesity rates and lower health care costs,” said Ron Littlefield, Mayor of Chattanooga. “And biking to Riverbend is a fun way to get the whole family started on a more active lifestyle,” he said.
